Short answer
As of October 26, 2026, Anthropic has not officially released Claude Fable 5.5 or announced a release date (it has only appeared in Microsoft Azure's model catalog). When it ships, it will be callable on TeamoRouter as claude-fable-5-5; until then, the newest Fable you can use is claude-fable-5-1. It is Anthropic's top tier, above Opus, meant for the hardest tasks, while Sonnet 5.5 stays the everyday default. The live price is on the pricing page; for reference, the previous Fable 5.1 lists at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, about $3 and $15 on TeamoRouter. In Claude Code, set ANTHROPIC_MODEL=claude-fable-5-5.
No card at all? You can also top up with USDT, USDC or ETH: click Pay with crypto in the top-up dialog and send it from Binance, OKX or any wallet. The minimum is $5 and no browser extension is needed. Step by step: Pay for Claude and GPT APIs with crypto (USDT).
What Claude Fable is
Fable is Anthropic's top model line, above Opus. It is the choice when reasoning quality matters most: architecture decisions, large unfamiliar codebases, long agent runs that simpler models don't finish. Fable 5.5 is the version after Fable 5.1.
Fable 5.5 vs Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5
| Model | Model ID | List price, input / output per 1M | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.5 | claude-fable-5-5 |
see the pricing page | The hardest tasks |
| Opus 5.5 | claude-opus-5-5 |
$4 / $20 | Hard coding work |
| Sonnet 5.5 | claude-sonnet-5-5 |
$2 / $10 | Everyday development |
| Haiku 5.5 | claude-haiku-5-5 |
$0.10 / $0.50 | Background chores and subagents |
A practical setup: work on Sonnet 5.5 and switch to Fable 5.5 only for the hard steps. Most tokens are then billed at Sonnet's price, and the expensive model runs only where it pays off. If a task is hard but not extreme, try Opus 5.5 first.
How much Fable costs
Fable is Anthropic's most expensive tier. For reference, Fable 5.1 per 1 million tokens, in USD:
| Anthropic list price | TeamoRouter | |
|---|---|---|
| Input | $10 | ≈ $3 |
| Output | $50 | ≈ $15 |
The live Fable 5.5 price is always on the pricing page; it moves with Anthropic's price list. You pay only for tokens used — no subscription.
What that looks like: a typical Claude Code session on a mid-sized project reads about 200k input tokens and writes 20k output tokens. At Fable 5.1 prices that is about $3 at list price and about $0.90 on TeamoRouter. For a full cost comparison, see Claude subscription vs API pay-per-use.
Claude Code: Fable 5.5 as the main model
Create a TeamoRouter API key in the console. If Claude Code isn't installed yet, start with the install guide.
macOS and Linux — add to ~/.zshrc (or ~/.bashrc):
export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=https://api.teamorouter.ai
export ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN="your TeamoRouter key"
export ANTHROPIC_MODEL=claude-fable-5-5
Windows (PowerShell):
setx ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL "https://api.teamorouter.ai"
setx ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN "your TeamoRouter key"
setx ANTHROPIC_MODEL "claude-fable-5-5"
Then reopen the terminal and run claude.
To keep Sonnet 5.5 as your main model and use Fable 5.5 for a single session:
claude --model claude-fable-5-5
If Claude Code says it doesn't recognize the model, run claude update.
Calling the API directly
Anthropic format:
curl https://api.teamorouter.ai/v1/messages \
-H "x-api-key: YOUR_KEY" \
-H "anthropic-version: 2023-06-01" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{
"model": "claude-fable-5-5",
"max_tokens": 2048,
"messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Design an architecture for a message queue service and explain the trade-offs"}]
}'
OpenAI-compatible format:
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(base_url="https://api.teamorouter.ai/v1", api_key="YOUR_KEY")
resp = client.chat.completions.create(
model="claude-fable-5-5",
messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Find the cause of the data race in this code: ..."}],
)
print(resp.choices[0].message.content)
Full parameter reference: API integration.
Paying for usage
You top up a balance in the console and are charged only for tokens actually used — no subscription. The minimum top-up is $5.
- Card — Visa, Mastercard and other major cards via Stripe.
- USDT — click Pay with crypto in the top-up dialog and pay with USDT, USDC or ETH from any exchange app; the checkout shows which networks your amount supports (BEP20 works from $5). No wallet extension needed. If your USDT is already on X Layer, install and unlock the OKX Wallet extension in a desktop browser and click Have USDT on X Layer? Pay with OKX Wallet in the top-up dialog. You only sign an authorization, so there is no gas fee. See how to pay with USDT.
FAQ
What is Claude Fable 5.5? Anthropic's top-tier model and the version after Fable 5.1. It sits above Opus and is meant for the hardest tasks.
How much does Claude Fable 5.5 cost? The live price is on the pricing page. For reference, Fable 5.1 lists at $10 and $50 per million input and output tokens, about $3 and $15 on TeamoRouter.
Is claude-fable-5-5 the same as claude-fable-5-1? No — different models and IDs. Change the model name in your settings to move to 5.5.
Fable 5.5 or Opus 5.5? Fable costs more; keep it for tasks Opus 5.5 doesn't get right the first time. For most coding work, Opus 5.5 or Sonnet 5.5 is enough.
Do I need an Anthropic account? No. A TeamoRouter key is enough.
